Sizing the fleet before it reaches site

A load and haul operation is won or lost before the first truck moves. We start from the numbers you already have — target tonnes per hour, the distance and gradient from face to tip, the density of the material and the hours you can realistically work — and size the fleet against them. The decision that matters most is the pass match between excavator bucket and truck tray. Filling a truck in a whole number of passes keeps the digger working continuously; a mismatch either strands excavator capacity or leaves trucks queuing at the face while the loader waits. We model that match first and commit equipment to it second.

Protecting cycle time once production starts

Cycle time decides your cost per tonne, and most of it is lost outside the loading bay. Ramp gradient, corner radius, surface condition and the placement of passing bays all change how quickly a loaded truck can travel safely, which is why our haul road work and our haul fleet work are planned together rather than in sequence. We record loading, travel, tipping and return times separately, so when the rate drops we can say which of the four moved and correct that — instead of adding trucks to a problem more trucks will not solve.

Availability, spillage and safety

High utilisation comes from planned maintenance, not from reacting. Servicing is scheduled around your production plan, wear items are stocked ahead of need, and daily pre-start inspections catch the faults that otherwise become mid-shift breakdowns. Loading discipline matters just as much: correct spotting, even tray loading and controlled fill heights cut the spillage that damages haul roads, wastes payload and creates hazards for light vehicles sharing the route. Operators work to documented loading and traffic-management procedures, and production and safety performance are reported to you on the same cycle.
